I've decided to FORCE a Reading Day on Mara and Allison, LOL They need it, it will keep them busy. It's simple. Every Thursday we will go to our local library and check out books, when we get home, 2 hours has to be spent reading those books. Then after that, they can go swim, watch movies, play video games, whatever, just not bug me!! lol
I think this is a start seeing each summer I don't make them read at all. I do think vacation means VACATION: time off, rest, relaxing, enjoy the summer doing KID things, doing NOTHING at all if that's what they want. I hate when teachers give out homework during Thanksgiving, Christmas, Spring Break, etc. And both my girls teachers did this and Mara's past teachers have done it alot, I hate it. It is always "optional" according to the teacher, but this year, Mara's teacher said it was optional, then when they went back to school she would say that the packet IS DUE by Friday, so get it done. Then we are stuck doing regular lengthy homework PLUS a 20 page packet.. sucked!! Thus the reason why I don't make my girls do anything but play and have fun doing their summer vacation. But this year, they need something else to do.. I'll give this a try and see how it goes.
